Admissions Process
The Growing Place Montessori accepts qualified students beginning at the age of 18 months. Applications are accepted for existing students beginning in the month of March preceding the school year, and for new students beginning in April. Applications can be submitted by fax, mail, or in person. Submission of an Admission Application requires payment of a one-time non-refundable registration fee. Your child will then be evaluated for placement and placed on our unranked waiting list if it is determined that your child is a good match for our program.
We generally experience openings throughout the school year and we encourage parents to remain on the waiting list if The Growing Place Montessori is their first choice. When openings occur, the administration will decide who receives an offer for a position based on the overall profile of the class and child. If your child is offered a position, a place will be held only upon receipt of an Enrollment Agreement, the annual materials fee, and other necessary documents.
Children currently on the waiting list must reapply the following year, if they still fall in the entrance age range. If our opinion is that your child would have a difficult time, is immature for the age-group, or would not be best served by a Montessori environment, we will notify you.
If a position is offered for your child, you will need to submit documentation, including an Enrollment Agreement, annual materials fee, New Student Survey, state-mandated forms, and others. If these records are not provided within the specified time frame, we reserve the right to suspend the student until the required documents have been received. Upon receipt of these items, we will hold a place for your child in our program, and you will be contractually obligated for the year’s tuition.
The Growing Place Montessori welcomes families of any race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, family structure or sexual orientation to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities of the school. Enrollment and placement at The Growing Place Montessori is founded on equal consideration and opportunity for all applicants and is based on the following:
•Developmental and emotional readiness for class work (new or transferring students must demonstrate academic readiness for the appropriate level).
•Affiliation with the school
•Appropriateness of the match between family and school and the family’s resonance with our core beliefs
•Temperament, age, and gender balance in our classes
